Tabalong Regency

**Tabalong Regency** is the northernmost regency in the [Indonesian](/source/Indonesia) [province](/source/Provinces_of_Indonesia) of [South Kalimantan](/source/South_Kalimantan), on [Borneo](/source/Borneo) Island. It was created on 14 July 1965 by splitting off the former northern districts of [North Hulu Sungai Regency](/source/North_Hulu_Sungai_Regency). It has a land area of 3,553.36 km2, and had a population at the 2010 Census of 218,620[3] and 253,305 at the 2020 Census;[4] the official estimate as of mid-2024 was 264,694 (comprising 133,747 males and 130,947 females).[1] The administrative capital is the town of [Tanjung](/source/Tanjung%2C_Tabalong). The Regency's motto is "Saraba Kawa" (*versatile* in [Banjarese](/source/Banjarese_language)).

## Administrative divisions

The Regency is divided into twelve [districts](/source/Districts_of_Indonesia) ([Indonesian](/source/Indonesian_language): *kecamatan*), tabulated below with their areas and population totals from the 2010 Census,[3] and the 2020 Census,[4] together with the official estimates for mid-2024.[1] The table also includes the locations of the district administrative centres, the number of [administrative villages](/source/Administrative_village) in each district (a total of 121 rural *desa* and 10 urban *kelurahan*), and its postal codes.
