'''Ta-wer''' (''the great land'') was the 8th [Upper Egypt](/source/Upper_Egypt)ian ancient [nome](/source/nome_(Egypt)). Its capital was [Thinis](/source/Thinis), and another important town was [Abydos](/source/Abydos%2C_Egypt). The exact borders of the nome are not known for sure, but the southern border might have been near [Abu Tesht](/source/Abu_Tesht) (ancient ''Pi-djodj'').
