TOI-763 is the bright star to the left of the galaxy [NGC 4832](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=NGC_4832&action=edit&redlink=1) in this image.

**TOI-763** is a single [high proper motion](/source/Proper_motion) [G-type](/source/G-type_main-sequence_star) [star](/source/Star) in the [constellation](/source/Constellation) of [Centaurus](/source/Centaurus), near the galaxy [NGC 4832](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=NGC_4832&action=edit&redlink=1) in the sky.[3] It is approximately 0.9 times the mass and radius of the [Sun](/source/Sun), with a surface temperature of 5,450±60 [K](/source/Kelvin) and a spectral type of G7.[7] TOI-763 is too faint to be visible to the naked eye. Based upon [parallax](/source/Stellar_parallax) measurements, it is located 312 [light-years](/source/Light-year) (95.6 [parsecs](/source/Parsec)) in distance from the Sun. The object is drifting towards the Sun with a [radial velocity](/source/Radial_velocity) of −13.8 km/s.[2]

## Planetary system

In August of 2020, two [exoplanets](/source/Exoplanet) were identified via the [transit method](/source/Transit_method) of exoplanet detection by the [Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite](/source/Transiting_Exoplanet_Survey_Satellite) (TESS), a [space telescope](/source/Space_telescope) for [NASA](/source/NASA)'s [Explorer program](/source/Explorer_program), designed to search for exoplanets. A third candidate planet is suspected based on [radial velocity](/source/Radial_velocity) observations.[4]

Neither of these two planets [orbit](/source/Orbit) in the [habitable zone](/source/Habitable_zone) and are both believed to be [sub-Neptune](/source/Sub-Neptune) planets.[8]
