**TOI-3235 b** is a [gas giant](/source/Gas_giant) exoplanet found 237 [light-years](/source/Light-years) away from Earth.[2] It was discovered in 2023 by the [transit method](/source/Transit_method).[2][*[better source needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability#Questionable_sources)*] It orbits close to its star, which is a red dwarf and located in the constellation of [Centaurus](/source/Centaurus).[3] It is also a potential target for future atmospheric observations.[4]

## Characteristics

### Mass and radius

TOI-3235 b was discovered by the [transit](/source/Astronomical_transit) method.[1] The exoplanet's mass is 0.665±0.025 [*M*J](/source/Jupiter_mass) and has a radius of 1.017±0.04 [*M*J](/source/Jupiter_mass). Its [semi-major axis](/source/Semi-major_axis) is 0.02709±0.00046 [AU](/source/Astronomical_unit) and has a temperature of 604±19 [Kelvin](/source/Kelvin).[5]

### Orbit

TOI-3235 b has a smaller orbit than [Mercury](/source/Mercury_(planet)). The exoplanet's orbit is 2.6 days, which is similar to the orbital period of [Gliese 436 b](/source/Gliese_436_b) and has an inclination of 88.14±0.046 [degrees](/source/Degree_(angle)).

## Host star

The host star of the exoplanet is TOI-3235, a [M-type main sequence star](/source/M-type_main_sequence_star) (red dwarf) that is not visible to the [naked eye](/source/Naked_eye) from [Earth](/source/Earth) with an [apparent magnitude](/source/Apparent_magnitude) of 14.5.[6] The star has a mass of 0.394±0.003 [*M*☉](/source/Solar_mass), a radius of 0.3697±0.0018 [*R*☉](/source/Solar_radius) and a temperature of 3388±68 [Kelvin](/source/Kelvin).[5] It is located 237 light-years away in the constellation [Centaurus](/source/Centaurus).[6]
