**Sylvia Jackson** (3 December 1946 – 27 July 2022) was a [Scottish Labour Party](/source/Scottish_Labour) politician, and former [Member of the Scottish Parliament](/source/Member_of_the_Scottish_Parliament) (MSP).

In the [Scottish Parliament election on 3 May 2007](/source/2007_Scottish_Parliament_election), she lost the Stirling constituency, which she had held since [1999](/source/1999_Scottish_Parliament_election), to [Bruce Crawford](/source/Bruce_Crawford) of the SNP.

Prior to her election she has worked as a lecturer at the [University of Edinburgh](/source/University_of_Edinburgh) and as a chemistry teacher.

Jackson died from cancer at a hospice in [Winchester](/source/Winchester), on 27 July 2022, at the age of 75.[1][2]
