# Svilaj

**Svilaj** is a settlement in the [Croatian](/source/Croatia) municipality of [Oprisavci](/source/Oprisavci) ([Brod-Posavina County](/source/Brod-Posavina_County)). According to the [2001 census](/source/Demographics_of_Croatia), the settlement has 290 inhabitants.[1] Svilaj's importance lies in the [border checkpoint](/source/Border_checkpoint) and a bridge over the nearby [Sava](/source/Sava) river, which bears the internationally important freeway [Pan-European](/source/Pan-European_corridors) [Corridor Vc](/source/European_route_E73).[2]
