# Sven Coster

**Sven Erik Coster** (born 2 December 1978, in [Leiden](/source/Leiden)) is a [sailor](/source/Sailing_(sport)) from the [Netherlands](/source/Netherlands).[1] Coster represented his country for the first time at the [2004 Summer Olympics](/source/Sailing_at_the_2004_Summer_Olympics) in [Athens](/source/Athens). With his brother [Kalle Coster](/source/Kalle_Coster)[2] as crew Coster took 6th place as helmsman in the Dutch [Men's 470](/source/Sailing_at_the_2004_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men's_470).[3][4][5] Coster's second Olympic appearance was during the [2008 Olympics](/source/Sailing_at_the_2008_Summer_Olympics) in [Qingdao](/source/Qingdao) again as helmsman in the 470 and his brother as crew, Coster took the 4th place.[6][7] Also with Kalle as crew in the 470 Coster helmed the Dutch 470 at the [2012 Olympics](/source/Sailing_at_the_2012_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men's_470_class) in [Weymouth](/source/Weymouth_and_Portland). The brothers finished on the 12th place.[8][9][10]

Sven Coster also represented The Netherlands during the [2008 Vintage Yachting Games](/source/2008_Vintage_Yachting_Games) in [Medemblik](/source/Medemblik) as crew in the [Soling](/source/Soling) with helmsman [Steven Bakker](/source/Steven_Bakker) and fellow crewmembers [Dick Coster](/source/Dick_Coster) and [Joost Houweling](/source/Joost_Houweling). The team took silver.

Sven Coster is the son of [Dick Coster](/source/Dick_Coster).
