# Svartnes

**Svartnes** is a small village and port in [Vardø Municipality](/source/Vard%C3%B8_Municipality), [Finnmark](/source/Finnmark) county, [Norway](/source/Norway). It is located on the mainland of the [Varanger Peninsula](/source/Varanger_Peninsula) across the [Bussesundet](/source/Bussesundet) [strait](/source/Strait) from the island of [Vardøya](/source/Vard%C3%B8ya) where the town of [Vardø](/source/Vard%C3%B8_(town)) is located. Svartnes has a large harbor and port, protected by a large [breakwater](/source/Breakwater_(structure)). The [Vardø Airport, Svartnes](/source/Vard%C3%B8_Airport,_Svartnes) is also located here. The [European route E75](/source/European_route_E75) highway runs through Svartnes, just before entering the [Vardø Tunnel](/source/Vard%C3%B8_Tunnel) which goes under the strait and connects to the town of Vardø. The village of [Kiberg](/source/Kiberg) lies about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the south. The mountain [Domen](/source/Domen,_Norway) lies just south of Svartnes.[1]
