# Svante Kede

**Svante Gustav Adolf Kede** (1877–1955) was a Swedish artist and painter.

Kede was born in [Stockholm](/source/Stockholm). He studied in Paris from 1904 to 1908. Some of his artist friends while studying in Paris were [Erik Tryggelin](/source/Erik_Tryggelin), [David Wallin](/source/David_Wallin), [Otto Strandman](/source/Otto_Strandman), [Svante Nilsson](/source/Svante_Nilsson_(artist)), and [Fritz Lindström](/source/Fritz_Lindstr%C3%B6m). Lindström was already then a member of Rackstad colony artists, [Rackengruppen](/source/Rackengruppen)[1] in [Värmland](/source/V%C3%A4rmland) in Sweden, where [Gustaf Fjaestad](/source/Gustaf_Fjaestad) was the leading artist.

He also spent some time in [Tahiti](/source/Tahiti) in the 1920s. He made trips to Spain, [Morocco](/source/Morocco) and the [Pacific Islands](/source/Pacific_Islands). Kede has painted landscapes and figure motifs from Spain and Northern Africa, the mountains of [Lapland](/source/Lapland_(Sweden)) and landscapes, and figure motifs from [Tahiti](/source/Tahiti).

Kede died in Stockholm. He is represented in [Nationalmuseum](/source/Nationalmuseum) in Stockholm, [Moderna Museet](/source/Moderna_Museet) i Stockholm and the art museums Norrköpings konstmuseum in [Norrköping](/source/Norrk%C3%B6ping), Västerås konstmuseum in [Västerås](/source/V%C3%A4ster%C3%A5s), and Karlskrona konstmuseum in [Karlskrona](/source/Karlskrona).
