# Suse Byk

**Suse Byk** was born 10 August 1884 in [Berlin](/source/Berlin) into a Jewish family of Ukrainian origin.[1]

Suse Byk worked as a theatre and film photographer based in Berlin.[2] Her work is in the [Morgan Library & Museum](/source/Morgan_Library_%26_Museum)[3] and [Museum of Photography, Berlin](/source/Museum_of_Photography,_Berlin).[4] She joined the Berlin Photographer Association in 1910.[2] Byk's photographs of [Valeska Gert](/source/Valeska_Gert) appeared in Fred Hildenbrandt's 1928 book about the dancer.[5] Byk married writer and journalist [Hellmuth Falkenfeld](/source/Hellmuth_Falkenfeld) in 1927.[2] She died 10 September 1943 in Manhattan, New York City.[1]
