# Susan Kinsolving

**Susan Kinsolving** is an American poet[1] whose books include *The White Eyelash*, *Dailies & Rushes* (a finalist for the [National Book Critics Circle Award](/source/National_Book_Critics_Circle_Award)) Peripheral Vision (2019) and *Among Flowers*.

Her work has appeared in numerous anthologies and publications including *The [New York Times Book Review](/source/New_York_Times_Book_Review), [Poetry](/source/Poetry_(magazine)), [Yale Review](/source/Yale_Review), The [Paris Review](/source/Paris_Review), [The New Republic](/source/The_New_Republic), The Nation*, and *The [Washington Post](/source/Washington_Post)*. A finalist for the [Walt Whitman Award](/source/Walt_Whitman_Award) and the [Yale Younger Series](/source/Yale_Series_of_Younger_Poets_Competition) award, she has taught at [Bennington College](/source/Bennington_College), [California Institute of the Arts](/source/California_Institute_of_the_Arts), [University of Connecticut](/source/University_of_Connecticut), [Southampton College](/source/Southampton_College), and [Chautauqua Institution](/source/Chautauqua_Institution).[2] She has received international fellowships from France, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, and Scotland.

[Glimmerglass Opera](/source/Glimmerglass_Opera) commissioned her to write lyrics for a [cantata](/source/Cantata), entitled *Constellations*, in collaboration with composer [David Carlson](/source/David_Carlson). Several of her poems have been set to music and performed in the United States and abroad. She has been invited to present her poems at universities, clubs, libraries and literary festivals throughout the world. She is currently a Poet in Residence at [The Hotchkiss School](/source/The_Hotchkiss_School) in [Lakeville, Connecticut](/source/Lakeville,_Connecticut).
