# Superpowerless

**Superpowerless** was music act led by Oliver Hindle from 2006 to around 2013.[1] Superpowerless was best known in [chiptune](/source/Chiptune) and [video game culture](/source/Video_game_culture) for playing chaotic live shows and for embracing a [do it yourself](/source/Do_it_yourself) ethic, self-producing his recordings and self-distributing them through [online social networking](/source/Online_social_networking) channels.

## Accolades

Superpowerless was the winner of the 2009 MTV / Vodafone Fast Track competition,[2][3][4] As part of the Fast Track prize, Superpowerless re-recorded his winning single "Wasted My Time" with Grammy-Nominated[5] producer and DJ [Andy Chatterley](/source/Andy_Chatterley) and an accompanying video with director Luc Janin[6] ([Stereophonics](/source/Stereophonics), [The Fratellis](/source/The_Fratellis), [Boy Kill Boy](/source/Boy_Kill_Boy) and [Lethal Bizzle](/source/Lethal_Bizzle)). The resulting music video featured on MTV in 29 countries[7] and YouTube.[8][9][10]

## History

Oliver Hindle played in multiple bands around the [Leeds](/source/Leeds) area during his teen years before starting his solo career in 2006.[11] Upon releasing several free promotional EPs and Albums for download, Superpowerless topped the [Myspace](/source/Myspace) UK Music Charts.[12] In 2009 Superpowerless songs were featured on the web-based [Guitar Hero](/source/Guitar_Hero) clone [JamLegend](/source/JamLegend), accumulating over a million plays and topping the charts.[13][1][14]

## Releases

Superpowerless released his first official single "We Throw Shapes" in May 2011.[15][16][17] and also published in IDN Magazine.[18] Following the death of [Michael Jackson](/source/Michael_Jackson), Superpowerless released an [8-bit](/source/8-bit) [tribute](/source/Tribute) [EP](/source/Extended_play) called "Moonwalker".[19][20] The Superpowerless Debut [LP](/source/LP_album), *Monsters* was released on 17 November 2011. It features 14 original songs and original artwork by Oliver Hindle. The album was entirely self-recorded and self-produced.[1]

None of the Superpowerless recordings have featured in any of the UK mainstream charts.
