**Sun Baojie** ([Chinese](/source/Simplified_Chinese_characters): 孙葆洁; [pinyin](/source/Pinyin): *Sūn Bǎojié*; Mandarin pronunciation: [\[swə́n pàʊ tɕjě\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Mandarin); born 2 January 1965) is a retired Chinese [football](/source/Association_football) [referee](/source/Referee_(association_football)). He is also a teacher of [Tsinghua University](/source/Tsinghua_University).[1]

He has refereed internationally in the [AFC Asian Cup](/source/AFC_Asian_Cup), [Tiger Cup](/source/Tiger_Cup), and qualifiers for the [1998](/source/1998_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(AFC)),[2] [2006](/source/2006_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(AFC)),[3] and [2010](/source/2010_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(AFC)) World Cups.[4] Sun officiated the [2001 FIFA World Youth Championship](/source/2001_FIFA_World_Youth_Championship), taking charge of the opening match between [Argentina](/source/Argentina_national_football_team) and [Finland](/source/Finland_national_football_team).[5] He is also a referee at the [AFC Champions League](/source/AFC_Champions_League) and [Chinese Super League](/source/Chinese_Super_League).[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] During 1999, Sun also spent a stint in [Major League Soccer](/source/Major_League_Soccer) as part of a referee exchange program.[6]

After reaching the FIFA age limit and retiring as a match official, Sun has served as a member of the Refereeing Committee of the [Asian Football Confederation](/source/Asian_Football_Confederation).[7]
