In [inorganic chemistry](/source/inorganic_chemistry), the '''sulfuryl''' group is a [functional group](/source/functional_group) consisting of a [sulfur](/source/sulfur) atom [covalently bound](/source/Covalent_bond) to two [oxygen](/source/oxygen) atoms ({{chem2|S(\dO)2X2}}).

It occurs in compounds such as [sulfuryl chloride](/source/sulfuryl_chloride), {{chem2|SO2Cl2}} and [sulfuryl fluoride](/source/sulfuryl_fluoride), {{chem2|SO2F2}}.

In [organic chemistry](/source/organic_chemistry), this group is found in [sulfone](/source/sulfone)s ({{chem2|RSO2R′}}) and [sulfonyl halide](/source/sulfonyl_halide)s ({{chem2|RSO2X}}), where it is called the [sulfonyl](/source/sulfonyl) group.
