***Subconsciously*** is the sixth studio album by South African DJ and music producer [Black Coffee](/source/Black_Coffee_(DJ)), released on 5 February 2021, by Soulstic Music.[3] [Pharrell Williams](/source/Pharrell_Williams), [David Guetta](/source/David_Guetta), [Diplo](/source/Diplo) and [Usher](/source/Usher_(musician)) appear as guest artists.

The album won the [Best Dance/Electronic](/source/Grammy_Award_for_Best_Dance%2FElectronic_Album) at the [64th Grammy Awards](/source/64th_Grammy_Awards).[4]

## Background

Black Coffee began recording the album in the third quarter of 2018.[5]

## Title

The album's title was inspired by "SBCNCSLY", a song which features Sabrina Claudio.[5]

## Release and singles

"[Drive](/source/Drive_(Black_Coffee_and_David_Guetta_song))" featuring French DJ [David Guetta](/source/David_Guetta) and Delilah Montagu was released in August 2018, as the album's lead single.[6][7] The song debuted on the US *[Billboard](/source/Billboard_(magazine))* [Dance/Electronic Songs](/source/Dance%2FElectronic_Songs) at number 31.[8]

*Subconsciously* was released on February 5, 2021.[9]

## Commercial performance

The album broke Apple Music and Spotify 2021 records for highest streams, with over 100 million streams.[10]

Reviewing the album for *[Pitchfork](/source/Pitchfork_(website))*, Tarisai Ngangura stated, "*Subconsciously* isn't the type of album that offers bangers through and through, but the standout tracks are compelling enough to stay the course".[11]
