His form tailed off after this, but he had a strong run in the 2009 [China Open](/source/China_Open_2009_(snooker)), defeating [Mark Allen](/source/Mark_Allen_(snooker_player)), [Ali Carter](/source/Ali_Carter) and [Graeme Dott](/source/Graeme_Dott) to reach his first career semi-final.
