# Strong Peak

**Strong Peak** ([79°56′S 82°18′W](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=79_56_S_82_18_W)) is a small sharp [peak](/source/Summit_(topography)) at the end of a ridge in the [Enterprise Hills](/source/Enterprise_Hills), standing 3 nautical miles (6 km) west-southwest of [Parrish Peak](/source/Parrish_Peak) and overlooking the head of [Horseshoe Valley](/source/Horseshoe_Valley_(Antarctica)), [Heritage Range](/source/Heritage_Range). It was mapped by the [United States Geological Survey](/source/United_States_Geological_Survey) (USGS) from surveys and [U.S. Navy](/source/U.S._Navy) air photos from 1961 to 1966. It was named by the [Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names](/source/Advisory_Committee_on_Antarctic_Names) (US-ACAN) for [Jack E. Strong](/source/Jack_E._Strong), a [United States Antarctic Research Program](/source/United_States_Antarctic_Research_Program) (USARP) biologist at [Palmer Station](/source/Palmer_Station) in 1965.
