**Storhamar Church** ([Norwegian](/source/Norwegian_language): *Storhamar kirke*) is a [parish church](/source/Parish_church) of the [Church of Norway](/source/Church_of_Norway) in [Hamar Municipality](/source/Hamar_Municipality) in [Innlandet](/source/Innlandet) county, [Norway](/source/Norway). It is located in the town of [Hamar](/source/Hamar). It is one of the churches for the Hamar [parish](/source/Parish) which is part of the [Hamar domprosti](/source/Hamar_domprosti) ([deanery](/source/Deanery)) in the [Diocese of Hamar](/source/Diocese_of_Hamar). The white, concrete church was built in a [rectangular](/source/Churches_in_Norway#Floor_plan) design in 1975 using plans drawn up by the [architect](/source/Architect) [Willy Sveen](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Willy_Sveen&action=edit&redlink=1). The church seats about 380 people.[1][2]

## History

As the town of [Hamar](/source/Hamar) grew, the need for a new church in the town became apparent. In 1971, land in a residential area in the west part of the town was acquired for a new church. The church was designed by [Willy Sveen](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Willy_Sveen&action=edit&redlink=1). The church was constructed out of concrete blocks during 1974–1975. It was [consecrated](/source/Consecrated) on 5 October 1975.[3]
