**Stordal Church** ([Norwegian](/source/Norwegian_language): *Stordal kyrkje*) is a [parish church](/source/Parish_church) of the [Church of Norway](/source/Church_of_Norway) in [Fjord Municipality](/source/Fjord_Municipality) in [Møre og Romsdal](/source/M%C3%B8re_og_Romsdal) county, [Norway](/source/Norway). It is located in the [village of Stordal](/source/Stordal_(village)). It is the church for the Stordal [parish](/source/Parish) which is part of the [Nordre Sunnmøre prosti](/source/Nordre_Sunnm%C3%B8re_prosti) ([deanery](/source/Deanery)) in the [Diocese of Møre](/source/Diocese_of_M%C3%B8re). The white, wooden church was built in a [long church](/source/Long_church) style in 1907 using plans drawn up by the [architect](/source/Architect) [Jens Zetlitz Monrad Kielland](/source/Jens_Zetlitz_Monrad_Kielland). The church seats about 270 people. The church has a large [steeple](/source/Steeple_(architecture)) in the front.[1][2]

## History

The church was built in 1907 to replace the [Old Stordal Church](/source/Old_Stordal_Church), located about 700 metres (2,300 ft) to the east. The new church was built in 1907. It has a large tower on the west end of the [nave](/source/Nave). On the east end of the nave lies the [choir](/source/Choir_(architecture)) which has a semi-circular [apse](/source/Apse) on the east end. The choir is flanked by [sacristies](/source/Sacristies) with slightly unusual shapes.[3][4]
