***Stigmella maya*** is a [moth](/source/Moth) of the family [Nepticulidae](/source/Nepticulidae). It is found on the [Yucatán Peninsula](/source/Yucat%C3%A1n_Peninsula) of southeastern [Mexico](/source/Mexico).

This species is among the smallest [Lepidoptera](/source/Lepidoptera) in the world.

The larvae feed on *[Karwinskia humboldtiana](/source/Karwinskia_humboldtiana)*. They [mine](/source/Leafminer) the leaves of their host plant.[1]
