**Stevie Meredith Martin** (born 12 May 1988)[1][2][3] is a British comedian, actor and writer.

## Early life

Martin grew up in [Northwich, Cheshire](/source/Northwich).[4] She graduated from [St. John's College](/source/St_John's_College%2C_Durham), [Durham University](/source/Durham_University), in 2010, with a degree in English literature.[1] She credits her career to having been auditioned for the [Durham Revue](/source/Durham_Revue) sketch comedy group by [Ed Gamble](/source/Ed_Gamble) and [Nish Kumar](/source/Nish_Kumar).[5] Martin was in the group for two years during college.[6] After graduating, she worked as a journalist.[7]

## Career

Martin was a member of the sketch comedy group Massive Dad, along with the comedians Tessa Coates and [Liz Kingsman](/source/Liz_Kingsman).[8] In 2018, Martin began doing solo work when the group shifted towards more writing and less live performance. She made her debut performance of *Stevie Martin: Vol 1* at the [Edinburgh Fringe](/source/Edinburgh_Festival_Fringe).[9][10]

That year, Martin began hosting the podcast *The Debrief* – later renamed *Nobody Panic* – with writer, performer, and fellow member of Massive Dad, Tessa Coates.[11][12][13] Her first book, co-authored by Coates and published in 2021, is also called *Nobody Panic: How to Be a Functioning Adult Without Screaming*.[14] The podcast went on hiatus in June 2024.[15] Later in February 2026, Coates and Martin confirmed they were ending the podcast in a bonus finale episode.[16]

In 2020, Martin began doing online sketches with actor Lola-Rose Maxwell.[17][18] She rose to prominence as a result of the sketches' popularity.[19]

Martin has appeared on television shows, including *[8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown](/source/8_Out_of_10_Cats_Does_Countdown)*, *[Starstruck](/source/Starstruck_(2021_TV_series))*, *[Breeders](/source/Breeders_(TV_series))*, *[The Mash Report](/source/The_Mash_Report)*, *[Guessable](/source/Guessable),* *[The Emily Atack Show](/source/The_Emily_Atack_Show)*, *[Taskmaster](/source/Taskmaster_(TV_series))*, and *[The Horne Section](/source/The_Horne_Section)*.[20] She has written for television shows, including *[The Russell Howard Hour](/source/The_Russell_Howard_Hour)*.[21] She also writes a newsletter called *The S Is a 5*.[22] With her sister, Gina Martin, she previously hosted the podcast *Might Delete Later*.[23] She has appeared on podcasts, including *[RHLSTP](/source/Richard_Herring's_interview_podcasts)*.[24]

In 2025, Martin was announced as a contestant in the 19th series of *[Taskmaster](/source/Taskmaster_(TV_series))*, alongside [Fatiha El-Ghorri](/source/Fatiha_El-Ghorri), [Jason Mantzoukas](/source/Jason_Mantzoukas), [Mathew Baynton](/source/Mathew_Baynton), and [Rosie Ramsey](/source/Rosie_Ramsey).[25] Martin also hosted the three-part miniseries *Got the Shot* alongside [Lara Ricote](/source/Lara_Ricote), featuring the two traveling Great Britain in search of destinations to experience iconic movie genres. The series was produced by national tourism agency [VisitBritain](/source/VisitBritain) in hopes to increase tourism.[26]

Martin appeared in the [BBC One](/source/BBC_One) sitcom *[Here We Go](/source/Here_We_Go_(TV_series))* in the episode "Dad's Red Cap". She also starred in the [Channel 4](/source/Channel_4) sketch series *[Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping](/source/Mitchell_and_Webb_Are_Not_Helping)*.
