**Steven Michael Webb** (born 8 November 1984 in [Wirral](/source/Metropolitan_Borough_of_Wirral), Merseyside, England)[1] is an English actor in theatre, television and film.[2]

## Early life and education

Webb started acting when he was 8 years old[2] and at 10 took over the lead role of Oliver in the [London Palladium](/source/London_Palladium) production of the [musical](/source/Oliver!).[3] He studied at the [Sylvia Young Theatre School](/source/Sylvia_Young_Theatre_School).[2]

At age 14, in 1996, he appeared as a child dancer alongside [Michael Jackson](/source/Michael_Jackson) during the singer's [Brit Awards](/source/Brit_Awards) performance of ["Earth Song"](/source/Earth_Song), getting knocked off stage and cracking a rib when [Jarvis Cocker](/source/Jarvis_Cocker) came on.[4]

## Career

Webb's most notable theatre work includes appearing as Posner in the second casting of [Alan Bennett](/source/Alan_Bennett)'s *[The History Boys](/source/The_History_Boys)* and as Elder McKinley and Moroni in the [West End](/source/West_End_theatre) run of *[The Book of Mormon](/source/The_Book_of_Mormon_(musical)).*

In January 2025 the cast for the UK premiere of *[Shucked](/source/Shucked)* was announced, with Webb playing the role of Storyteller 2, alongside Monique Ashe-Palmer as Storyteller 1, Ben Joyce as Beau, [Sophie McShera](/source/Sophie_McShera) as Maizy, [Georgina Onuorah](/source/Georgina_Onuorah) as Lulu, Keith Ramsay as. Peanut and Matthew Seadon-Young as Gordy.[5]

Television work includes the [BBC](/source/BBC) series *[The Magician's House](/source/The_Magician's_House)*, which featured actors such as [Katie Stuart](/source/Katie_Stuart), [Ian Richardson](/source/Ian_Richardson), [Stephen Fry](/source/Stephen_Fry) and [Jennifer Saunders](/source/Jennifer_Saunders). He has also appeared in the [ITV](/source/ITV_(TV_network)) drama series *[Bad Girls](/source/Bad_Girls_(TV_series))* (2001, 2006), in which he played David Saunders, son of inmate [Julie Saunders](/source/Julie_Saunders_(Bad_Girls)). Webb has one sister, and a dog called Henry. He has stated he is an avid fan of the video game *[Minecraft](/source/Minecraft)*.

He has been sober since 2 April 2020.[8]
