**Stephen Winer** began his writing career at the *[National Lampoon](/source/National_Lampoon_(magazine))* and his TV career on *[Late Night with David Letterman](/source/Late_Night_with_David_Letterman)* which the Writers Guild of America voted one of the [101 Best-Written TV Series](http://www.wga.org/content/default.aspx?id=5075). He went on to write for [NBC](/source/NBC) *[TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes](/source/TV's_Bloopers_%26_Practical_Jokes)* ([Robert Klein](/source/Robert_Klein) segments), two seasons of *Robert Klein Time* for the [USA Network](/source/USA_Network) and four seasons of the [Disney Channel](/source/Disney_Channel)'s *[The New Mickey Mouse Club](/source/Mickey_Mouse_Club)* where he was nominated for two [CableAce Awards](/source/CableAce_Award).

His other credits include [Nick at Nite](/source/Nick_at_Nite)'s *Chairman's Choice*, starring [Dick Van Dyke](/source/Dick_Van_Dyke), and special material for [Andy Williams](/source/Andy_Williams) on *Happy New Year America* for CBS.

As a co-writer/producer, his award-winning film, *KING of the Zs*, debuted at the [Telluride Film Festival](/source/Telluride_Film_Festival) and was broadcast on [Showtime](/source/Showtime_(TV_network)).

Winer is represented in the theater by *Every Comedian Wants to Play Hamlet* and [*Look, Ma...No Ears!*](/source/Lindsey_Alley).
