# Stephan Greeff

**Stephan Greeff** (born 24 December 1989 in [Cape Town](/source/Cape_Town)) is a South African [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) player who last played for the in the [Pro14](/source/Pro14). His regular playing position is [lock](/source/Rugby_union_positions#4._Lock).

## Career

### Youth and Varsity rugby

Greeff represented the Eastern Province Country Districts side at the 2007 Under-18 Academy Week competition before moving to [Cape Town](/source/Cape_Town) to join . He played for the side in 2008 and for the side in 2009 and 2010.

In 2011, he also made a single appearance for the in the [Varsity Cup](/source/2011_Varsity_Cup).

### Western Province

He made his senior debut for in the [2010 Vodacom Cup](/source/2010_Vodacom_Cup) competition, coming on as a late substitute in their match against the .[1] He made another three appearances in that competition, as well as one in the [2011 Vodacom Cup](/source/2011_Vodacom_Cup) and another in a compulsory friendly match against prior to the [2011 Currie Cup Premier Division](/source/2011_Currie_Cup_Premier_Division).[2]

### Lions / Golden Lions

He joined [Johannesburg](/source/Johannesburg)-based side the in 2012, where he was immediately included in their [Super Rugby](/source/Super_Rugby) side, the . He made his [Super Rugby](/source/Super_Rugby) debut in the second match of the Lions' [2012 Super Rugby season](/source/2012_Super_Rugby_season), starting their match against the .[3] He made one more start (against the ),[4] as well as three substitute appearances. He also made one appearance for the Golden Lions in the [2012 Vodacom Cup](/source/2012_Vodacom_Cup), but then suffered a leg fracture,[5] which ruled him out of the remainder of the season.

He returned the following season, making one appearance in the [2013 Vodacom Cup](/source/2013_Vodacom_Cup) and two in the [2013 Currie Cup Premier Division](/source/2013_Currie_Cup_Premier_Division), but fell out of favour and joined the for a loan spell during the [2013 Currie Cup First Division](/source/2013_Currie_Cup_First_Division) and in 2014.[6]

### Pumas

He joined [Nelspruit](/source/Nelspruit)-based side the for the 2016 season.[7]
