# Stefano Hatfield

English journalist and newspaper editor

**Stefano Hatfield** is a British journalist and newspaper editor. He was born in Croydon and was educated at [The John Fisher School](/source/The_John_Fisher_School) and the [University of Exeter](/source/University_of_Exeter). He is a Roman Catholic of Italian descent.[1][2]

Hatfield edited *[thelondonpaper](/source/The_London_Paper)* and *[Campaign](/source/Campaign_(magazine))*, before his appointment as executive editor of *[The Independent](/source/The_Independent)* in 2010 with responsibility for the other national daily in the group, the then new *[i](/source/I_(British_newspaper))*,[3] In 2013, he left *[i](/source/I_(British_newspaper))* to become editorial director of the [London Live](/source/London_Live_(TV_channel)) news and current affairs TV station owned by [Evgeny Lebedev](/source/Evgeny_Lebedev), also proprietor of *The Independent*.[4]
