# Stavang

**Stavang**[1] or **Bru**[2] is a village in [Kinn Municipality](/source/Kinn_Municipality) in [Vestland](/source/Vestland) county, [Norway](/source/Norway). The village is located on the mainland at the mouth of the [Førdefjorden](/source/F%C3%B8rdefjorden), where it empties into the [Brufjorden](/source/Brufjorden), about 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) straight southeast of the town of [Florø](/source/Flor%C3%B8). The islands of [Stavøya](/source/Stav%C3%B8ya), [Askrova](/source/Askrova), and [Svanøya](/source/Svan%C3%B8ya) lie off the coast of Stavang to the north, west, and southwest, respectively.

## History

The village was the [administrative centre](/source/Administrative_centre) of the old [Bru Municipality](/source/Bru_Municipality) which existed from 1923 until 1964. The village is the site of [Stavang Church](/source/Stavang_Church) which was built in 1957.
