**Starsem** is a French-Russian company that was created in 1996 to commercialise the [Soyuz launcher](/source/Soyuz_(rocket_family)) internationally. Starsem is headquartered in [Évry](/source/%C3%89vry%2C_Essonne), France (near Paris) and has the following shareholders:[1]

- [Arianespace](/source/Arianespace) (15%)

- [Roscosmos](/source/Roscosmos) (25%)

- [Progress Rocket Space Centre](/source/Progress_Rocket_Space_Centre) (25%)

## Consequences of the Russia-Ukraine war

After [Russia invaded Ukraine](/source/Russian_invasion_of_Ukraine) in February 2022, all Soyuz launches performed via Starsem were suspended indefinitely.[2] This is also evident by the lack of news releases on the Starsem website since then, with the last headline from February 15, 2022.
