# Stanley Philips

**Stanley Ian Philips** (4 February 1920[1] – 27 October 2015[2]) was an English [cricketer](/source/Cricket) who played for [Northamptonshire](/source/Northamptonshire_County_Cricket_Club) in the 1938 and 1939 seasons,[3] including the club's last match before the outbreak of the [Second World War](/source/Second_World_War). During the war he was stationed in India where he played for the [Europeans](/source/Europeans_cricket_team).

He was born in [Tunbridge Wells](/source/Tunbridge_Wells) on 4 February 1920 and educated at [Brighton College](/source/Brighton_College) and [Oxford University](/source/Oxford_University). In later life he was headmaster of Eaglehurst College in Northampton.[3]

Philips appeared in seven first-class matches as a right-handed [batsman](/source/Batting_(cricket)). He scored 156 [runs](/source/Run_(cricket)) with a highest score of 42.[4]
