'''Stanislas-Henri-Benoit Darondeau''' (4 April 1807 – 12 July 1842) was a French painter, draftsman and engineer who was born in Paris in 1807. The musician [Henry Darondeau](/source/Henry_Darondeau) was his father and [Benoît Darondeau](/source/Beno%C3%AEt_Darondeau) one of his brothers.

He exhibited in the [Salon de Paris](/source/Salon_(Paris)) between 1827 and 1841.<ref>Bénézit, Emmanuel, ''Bénézit Dictionary of Artists'', Paris, Gründ, 2006, Vol 4, p.&nbsp;431</ref> His painting reflects the [Orientalist](/source/Orientalism) movement of great interest in the Near East.  He circumnavigated the globe between February 1836 and November 1837 under [Auguste Nicolas Vaillant](/source/Auguste_Nicolas_Vaillant) (1793–1858), producing many illustrations of French Polynesia and Hawaii.<ref>Severson, Don R., ''Finding Paradise, Island Art in Private Collections'', University of Hawaii Press, 2002, pp xiii</ref>  In 1841-42, he participated in an African expedition under [Captain Louis Édouard Bouët-Willaumez](/source/Louis_%C3%89douard_Bou%C3%ABt-Willaumez) aboard the ''Nisus''.  Darondeau died in [Brest, France](/source/Brest%2C_France) in 1841.
