The **St. Regis River** (or **rivière Saint-Régis** in [Quebec](/source/Quebec)) is an 86-mile-long (138 km)[2] [river](/source/River) in northern [New York](/source/New_York_(state)) in the [United States](/source/United_States). It flows into the [Saint Lawrence River](/source/Saint_Lawrence_River) at the hamlet of [Saint Regis](/source/Saint_Regis%2C_New_York) in the [St. Regis Mohawk Reservation](/source/St._Regis_Mohawk_Reservation). The Saint Regis River basin includes [Upper](/source/Upper_St._Regis_Lake) and [Lower St. Regis Lakes](/source/Lower_St._Regis_Lake), and [Saint Regis Pond](/source/Saint_Regis_Pond) in the [Saint Regis Canoe Area](/source/Saint_Regis_Canoe_Area). It's a great fishery for [trout](/source/Trout).

## Toponymy

The toponym "rivière Saint-Régis" was made official on December 5, 1968 at the [Commission de toponymie du Québec](/source/Commission_de_toponymie_du_Qu%C3%A9bec).[3]
