**Sreenivasan Jain** is an Indian journalist who worked for [NDTV](/source/NDTV) from 1995 to January 2023. He is currently an adjunct faculty at [O.P. Jindal Global University](/source/O.P._Jindal_Global_University)[1]

## Early life

Jain is the grandson of [M. A. Sreenivasan](/source/M._A._Sreenivasan), a minister in the [Princely State of Mysore](/source/Princely_State_of_Mysore), and the son of [Devaki Jain](/source/Devaki_Jain) and [Lakshmi Chand Jain](/source/Lakshmi_Chand_Jain).[2]

## Career

He was a prominent face of NDTV, and during his three-decade career with the news network, served as the anchor of NDTV's popular programmes, such as *Reality Check,* *[Truth vs Hype](/source/Truth_vs_Hype)*. He was also the channel's Group Editor.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] He was NDTV's Mumbai bureau chief from 2003 to 2008. He was also briefly [managing editor](/source/Managing_editor) of NDTV's business channel, [Profit](/source/NDTV_Profit). He is also an [op-ed](/source/Op-ed) columnist for the *[Business Standard](/source/Business_Standard)* newspaper.[3] An op-ed column in *The Hoot*, an independent South Asian media watchdog, praised Jain's television coverage of the [2013 Muzaffarnagar riots](/source/2013_Muzaffarnagar_riots).[4]

On 28 January 2023, Jain announced that he is quitting the channel after a nearly three-decade-long career.[5][6]

Jain later joined *[Newslaundry](/source/Newslaundry)*, founded by [Abhinandan Sekhri](/source/Abhinandan_Sekhri), [Madhu Trehan](/source/Madhu_Trehan) and Prashant Sareen and worked on various important projects such as NL Sena and Chunaav.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]

## Awards

- Jain won the 2006 Best Anchor News/Current Affairs award instituted by the Indian Television Academy.[7]

- In September 2014, Jain won the [Ramnath Goenka award](/source/Ramnath_Goenka_Excellence_in_Journalism_Awards) for 'Journalist of the Year'.[8]

- In April 2015, Jain won the 'Journalist of the Year' award at the RedInk journalism awards, given by the Press Club, Mumbai.[9]
