It is a former site of ice block extradition [industry](/source/ice_trade), and there are a number of man-made ponds created for this purpose.<ref name=snl>{{cite encyclopedia|year=|title=Nesodden|encyclopedia=[Store norske leksikon](/source/Store_norske_leksikon)|editor=|publisher=|location=Oslo|url=http://www.snl.no/Nesodden|language=Norwegian|accessdate=31 March 2010}}</ref> The village is located in southern Nesodden, between [Fjellstrand](/source/Fjellstrand%2C_Norway) in the north and [Fagerstrand](/source/Fagerstrand) in the south. On the opposite of the [Oslofjord](/source/Oslofjord) is [Nærsnes](/source/N%C3%A6rsnes) in [Røyken](/source/R%C3%B8yken).
