'''''Springerichthys''''' is a genus of [triplefin](/source/Threefin_blenny)s in the [family](/source/Family_(taxonomy)) [Tripterygiidae](/source/Tripterygiidae). The two species in this genus are found in the western Pacific Ocean.<ref name = FishBase>{{FishBase genus|genus=Springerichthys|month=April|year=2019}}</ref>

==Taxonomy and characteristics==
The genus is closely related to the genera ''[Ceratobregma](/source/Ceratobregma)'' and ''[Enneapterygius](/source/Enneapterygius)''. The species in this genus are characterised by the possession of a discontinuous [lateral line](/source/lateral_line) which comprises a series of 17-31 tubular pored scales at its anterior end and 13-21 notched scales in a series towards its posterior end. The belly is half covered in scales while the head is lacking in scales but it does have tiny spines in the occipital area. The first [dorsal fin](/source/dorsal_fin) has three spines, the second dorsal fin has 11-19 spines while the [anal fin](/source/anal_fin) has two fused spines and the [pelvic fin](/source/pelvic_fin) has a single spine and two rays.<ref name= Fricke>{{cite journal | author = Fricke, R. | year = 1997 | title = Tripterygiid fishes of the western and central Pacific, with descriptions of 15 new species, including an annotated checklist of world Tripterygiidae (Teleostei) | journal = Theses Zoologica | volume = 29 | pages = 1–607}}</ref>

==Species==
There are two species currently recognised in ''Springerichthys'':<ref name = FishBase/>
* [Japanese blacktail triplefin](/source/Japanese_blacktail_triplefin), ''[Springerichthys bapturus](/source/Springerichthys_bapturus)'' <small>([Jordan](/source/David_Starr_Jordan) & Snyder, 1902)</small>
* [Kulbicki's triplefin](/source/Kulbicki's_triplefin), ''[Springerichthys kulbickii](/source/Springerichthys_kulbickii)'' <small>(Fricke & Randall, 1994)</small>

==Etymology==
The name of the genus, ''Springerichthys'' honours the [American](/source/United_States) [ichthyologist](/source/ichthyologist) [Victor G. Springer](/source/Victor_G._Springer) of the [United States National Museum](/source/United_States_National_Museum) in recognition of his contribution to the [systematics](/source/systematics) of the [Blenniiformes](/source/Blenniiformes).<ref>{{cite web | url = http://www.etyfish.org/blenniiformes1/ | title = Order BLENNIIFORMES: Families TRIPTERYGIIDAE and DACTYLOSCOPIDAE | work = The ETYFish Project Fish Name Etymology Database | author1 = Christopher Scharpf | author2 = Kenneth J.
