**Spring Place** (also **Poinset,** **Springplace**) is an [unincorporated community](/source/Unincorporated_area#United_States) in [Murray County](/source/Murray_County%2C_Georgia), [Georgia](/source/Georgia_(United_States)), United States.[1][2]

## History

A post office was established at Spring Place in 1826.[3] The community took its name from Spring Place Mission, a nearby Native American [Moravian](/source/Moravian_Church) mission.[4]

Spring Place held the [county seat](/source/County_seat) of Murray County from 1834 until the seat was transferred to Chatsworth in 1913.[5]

The [Georgia General Assembly](/source/Georgia_General_Assembly) incorporated Spring Place as a town in 1885.[6] The town's municipal charter was repealed in 1995.[4]

## Notable person

[Kate Galt Zaneis](/source/Kate_Galt_Zaneis) (1887-1973), educator, was born in Spring Place.[7]
