Kat recalled that initially "we couldn't play, so we just did it. Their first three singles, "Paco Doesn't Love Me" (April 2004), "Hey Hey Baby" (July) and "[My Boyfriend's Back](/source/My_Boyfriend's_Back_(song))" (February 2005), all charted, with the latter reaching No. 24 on the [ARIA Singles Chart](/source/ARIA_Charts).<ref name="Murfett"/><ref name="AUS Charts"/> At a gig at the Gaelic Club they played in May 2004 with [Marky Ramone](/source/Marky_Ramone) on his Australian visit, Ally made way for Ramone on the drums.<ref name="Barman 1"/><ref>''The Age'', 10 May 2004, "Brain Surgery not a Part of this Brief" by Michael Dwyer</ref><ref name="Dwyer">{{cite news |url=https://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/05/07/1083881478385.html?from=storyrhs | work = The Age | title = Music Reviews: Marky Ramone | last = Dwyer | first = Michael | date = 10 May 2004 | accessdate = 2 October 2004 }}</ref> Ramone also appears in their video clip for "Hey Hey Baby".<ref>Geelong Advertiser, 4 September 2004, "Fun-time Spazzys"</ref><ref name="Dann">{{cite news |url=https://livenudedann.wordpress.com/2009/09/12/the-spazzys/ | title = The Spazzys… | author = Dann | publisher = LiveNudeDann | work = Buzz Magazine | date = 12 September 2009 | accessdate = 2 October 2015 }}</ref> By July that year the trio had supported gigs in Melbourne by visiting artists: The Buzzcocks, The Datsuns, The D4, Gerling and Blondie.<ref name="AUS Charts"/>

By late 2006 the Spazzys had recorded their second album, ''Dumb Is Forever''.<ref name="Dann"/> However its release was "severely delayed by some pretty serious legal issues."<ref name="Stewart">{{cite news |url=https://themusic.com.au/reviews/album/2013/01/16/spazzys-dumb-is-forever-dylan-stewart/ | title = Spazzys ''Dumb Is Forever'' | author = Stewart, Dylan | publisher = Street Press Australia | work = [The Music](/source/The_Music_(magazine)) | date = 16 January 2013 | accessdate = 2 October 2015 }}</ref> Kat later told Steve Bell of ''[The Music](/source/The_Music_(magazine))'' that the dispute with their label and management began when they were asked to record it in Los Angeles. She reflected "we didn't want to go to LA, we were tricked into going to LA – I think our managers thought it would be a cool thing to do... and I think they wanted us to record there, which is the daggiest most '80s thing in the fucking world to do."<ref name="Bell">{{cite web |url=https://themusic.com.au/interviews/all/2012/12/19/the-spazzys-kat-spazzy/11561/ | title = The Spazzys Kat Spazzy | author = Bell, Steve | publisher = Street Press Australia | work = The Music | date = 19 December 2012 | accessdate = 2 October 2015 }}</ref>

In 2007 Ally founded a children's music workshop, Kiddy Rock, where "she goes around to kindergartens and does music classes for all the little kids... get them all fired up, and then the teachers have to come along and give them their milk and settle them down."<ref name="Dann"/> The Spazzys have played several major music festivals: the [Big Day Out](/source/Big_Day_Out) in January 2007,<ref>{{cite news | work = The West Australian | date = 25 January 2007 | title = Spazzys back, more diverse | author = Collins, Simon }}</ref> [Falls Festival](/source/Falls_Festival), [Queenscliff Music Festival](/source/Queenscliff_Music_Festival), [Pyramid Rock Festival](/source/Pyramid_Rock_Festival). They toured in support of Australian groups: [You Am I](/source/You_Am_I), [Grinspoon](/source/Grinspoon), [Butterfingers](/source/Butterfingers_(Australian_band)) and [Hard-Ons](/source/Hard-Ons). During their support of Manson for the Australasian leg of his [Rape of the World Tour](/source/Rape_of_the_World_Tour) in October 2007, they were poorly received by some crowd members.<ref name=manson/> Kat recalled "All those little Goths in the crowd were so funny! I thought they were going to raid the stage! A lot of them really, really hated us, but we came out in capes and stuff, and hopefully a few of them liked us by the end."<ref name="Dann"/> Their biggest response was by asking the crowd for a "fuck you".<ref name=manson/> The band frequently mocked the audience by announcing song titles such as: "My Parents Don't Understand Me So I'm Going to My Room to Cut Myself".<ref name=manson/> Kat declared that Manson "loved us, and he was the one who asked us to do the tour."<ref name="Dann"/>

In 2011 Kat was employed as a criminal lawyer after obtaining her Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from [Victoria University](/source/Victoria_University%2C_Australia) and Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at [Australian National University](/source/Australian_National_University).

The Spazzys finally released ''Dumb Is Forever'' in 2011, which Graham Blackley of ''Beat Magazine'' opined "has been worth the lengthy wait."<ref name="Blackley">{{cite web |url=http://www.beat.com.au/music/spazzys-dumb-forever | title = Spazzys: ''Dumb Is Forever'' | author = Blackley, Graham | publisher = Furst Media | work = Beat Magazine | date = | accessdate = 2 October 2015 }}</ref> He described how the group "have clearly maintained their tight and sprightly musicianship. There are plenty of '60s tinged bubble-gum melodies and ferocious wall-shaking firepower and they still manage to diversify their sound."<ref name="Blackley"/> Dylan Stewart of ''[The Music](/source/The_Music_(magazine))'' felt "fun and frivolous, and represents a flashback to another time... [with] a slight shift towards a poppier delivery compared to the brash punk sensibility they were then known for."<ref name="Stewart"/>

Madison Thomas, reviewing for ''[Tone Deaf](/source/Tone_Deaf_(magazine))'', praised the band's performance at [the Tote](/source/The_Tote_Hotel) in November 2012, saying "their set packs a punch."<ref name="Thomas">{{cite web |url=https://www.tonedeaf.com.au/226513/cosmic-psychos.htm | title = Cosmic Psychos | author = Thomas, Madison | publisher = Nicholas Jones | work = Tone Deaf | date = 7 November 2012 | accessdate = 2 October 2015 }}</ref>

In August 2021, ''[The Age](/source/The_Age)'' reported that McNamara had been posting Neo-Nazi and anti-[lockdown](/source/COVID-19_lockdowns) propaganda using an online alias.<ref>{{Cite web|last1=Tozer|first1=Nick |last2=McKenzie| first2= Joel|date=2021-08-16|title=Political ambitions and anti-lockdown protests: How neo-Nazis seek to spread influence|url=https://www.theage.com.au/national/political-ambitions-and-anti-lockdown-protests-how-neo-nazis-seek-to-spread-influence-20210813-p58imf.html|access-date=2021-08-17|website=The Age|language=en}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|date=2021-08-17|title=Ally Spazzy's Greatest Hits|url=https://thewhiterosesociety.writeas.com/ally-spazzys-alice-mcnamaras-greatest-hits |access-date=2021-08-17|website=The White Rose Society|language=en}}</ref>
