**Sparkes Bay** ([66°22′S 110°32′E](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=66_22_S_110_32_E)) is a [bay](/source/Bay), 1 nautical mile (1.9 km) wide and indenting 2.5 nautical miles (4.6 km) between [Mitchell Peninsula](/source/Mitchell_Peninsula) on the north and [Robinson Ridge](/source/Robinson_Ridge) and [Odbert Island](/source/Odbert_Island) on the south, in the [Windmill Islands](/source/Windmill_Islands). First mapped from air photos taken by [U.S. Navy Operation Highjump](/source/U.S._Navy_Operation_Highjump) and [Operation Windmill](/source/Operation_Windmill) in 1947 and 1948. Named by the [Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names](/source/Advisory_Committee_on_Antarctic_Names) (US-ACAN) for Lieutenant [Robert S. Sparkes](/source/Robert_S._Sparkes), [U.S. Navy](/source/U.S._Navy), military leader at [Wilkes Station](/source/Wilkes_Station) in 1958.
