'''Sparganiaceae''' is a [family](/source/Family_(taxonomy)) of [flowering plant](/source/flowering_plant)s. Such a family was previously recognized by most taxonomists.

The [APG II system](/source/APG_II_system), of 2003 (unchanged from the [APG system](/source/APG_system), 1998), also recognizes this family, and assigns it to the order [Poales](/source/Poales) in the clade [commelinids](/source/commelinids), in the [monocots](/source/monocots). The family consists of only one genus ''[Sparganium](/source/Sparganium)'' of fewer than two dozen species, perennial plants of wet habitats. By the [APG III system](/source/APG_III_system) of 2009, ''Sparganium'' had been found to be fairly closely related to ''[Typha](/source/Typha)'', and so was placed with that genus in family [Typhaceae](/source/Typhaceae).

The [Cronquist system](/source/Cronquist_system), of 1981, also recognized such a family and placed it in the order [Typhales](/source/Typhales) in the subclass [Commelinidae](/source/Commelinidae) in class [Liliopsida](/source/Liliopsida) in division [Magnoliophyta](/source/Magnoliophyta).

The [Wettstein system](/source/Wettstein_system), last updated in 1935, placed the family in order [Pandanales](/source/Pandanales).
