It separates the islands of [Langøya](/source/Lang%C3%B8ya) and [Hinnøya](/source/Hinn%C3%B8ya) and it connects the [Hadselfjorden](/source/Hadselfjorden) in the south and the [Gavlfjorden](/source/Gavlfjorden) in the north.
