**Sopron Basket** is a [Hungarian](/source/Hungary) professional [women's basketball](/source/Women's_basketball) club from [Sopron](/source/Sopron). Founded in 1921 as the women's section of [Soproni VSE](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Soproni_Vasutas_Sportegylet&action=edit&redlink=1), it has played in the [Hungarian National Championship](/source/Hungarian_national_championship_for_women's) since 1986. It plays its home games in the [Aréna Sopron](/source/Ar%C3%A9na_Sopron). Sopron won its first-ever EuroLeague championship in [2022](/source/2021%E2%80%9322_EuroLeague_Women).

Sopron won its first national championship in 1993, making its debut in the [Euroleague](/source/EuroLeague_Women) the following season. Settled in the top positions, the team played in subsequent years the [Ronchetti Cup](/source/Ronchetti_Cup), which it won in 1998 beating [ASPTT Aix-en-Provence](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=ASPTT_Aix-en-Provence&action=edit&redlink=1). As of 2011 Sopron remains the only Hungarian women's basketball team that has won an international competition since the fall of [communism](/source/People's_Republic_of_Hungary). The following year Sopron won its second championship, which marked its return to the Euroleague, which it has played every year since.[1]

The team has won four more championships since 2002, three of them between 2007 and 2011. In [2009](/source/EuroLeague_Women_2008-09) it reached the Euroleague's Final Four after beating [Wisła Kraków](/source/TS_Wis%C5%82a_Can-Pack_Krak%C3%B3w) and [Bourges Basket](/source/Bourges_Basket) in the knockout stages, ending 4th after losing to [CB Avenida](/source/CB_Avenida) and [UMMC Ekaterinburg](/source/UMMC_Ekaterinburg).
