**Sophie Beem** (born May 4, 1999) is an American singer and songwriter from [New York City](/source/New_York_City).

## Career

Born and raised in Manhattan's [Upper East Side](/source/Upper_East_Side), she released music under [Parkwood Entertainment](/source/Parkwood_Entertainment) after being signed by [Beyoncé](/source/Beyonc%C3%A9) to a two-year artist development deal in 2016. Beem auditioned for [The X Factor USA](/source/The_X_Factor_(U.S._TV_series)) in 2012, where she performed for judges [Britney Spears](/source/Britney_Spears), [Demi Lovato](/source/Demi_Lovato), [Simon Cowell](/source/Simon_Cowell) and [L.A. Reid](/source/L.A._Reid).[1][2][3][4]

In March 2016, Beem released her debut self-titled EP, which featured her debut single, "Skyline". The music video for "Skyline" was released on April 1, 2016, and was directed by [Shomi Patwary](/source/Shomi_Patwary). The EP also features "I Got It", which features a guest verse by [Fetty Wap](/source/Fetty_Wap). In 2016, Beem toured with [Charlie Puth](/source/Charlie_Puth) on the Nine Track Mind Tour, and with Beyoncé, [Chloe x Halle](/source/Chloe_x_Halle) and [Ingrid](/source/Ingrid_Burley) on [The Formation World Tour](/source/The_Formation_World_Tour).[5][6] As of 2021, she was a [junior](/source/Junior_(education_year)) at [USC Thornton School of Music](/source/USC_Thornton_School_of_Music).[7]
