# Soong-Chan Rah

Korean-American Christian theologian

**Soong-Chan Rah** (fl. 2010 - present) is Robert Boyd Munger Professor of Evangelism[1] at [Fuller Theological Seminary](/source/Fuller_Theological_Seminary).

## Biography

Rah obtained his B.A. in [political science](/source/Political_science) and [history](/source/History)/[sociology](/source/Sociology) from [Columbia University](/source/Columbia_University). He finished his [M.Div.](/source/M.Div.) from [Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary](/source/Gordon_Conwell_Theological_Seminary) (GCTS) and his Th.M. from [Harvard University](/source/Harvard_University). He also completed a [D.Min.](/source/D.Min.) at GCTS and a [Th.D.](/source/Th.D.) at [Duke Divinity School](/source/Duke_Divinity_School).[2][3]

He was the founding senior pastor of Cambridge Community Fellowship Church, a multi-ethnic, urban church in [Cambridge, Massachusetts](/source/Cambridge%2C_Massachusetts). He has previously worked with [InterVarsity Christian Fellowship](/source/InterVarsity_Christian_Fellowship) in the [Boston](/source/Boston) area.

He was previously Milton B. Engebretson Professor of Church Growth and Evangelism at [North Park University](/source/North_Park_University)[4] and started his role as Robert Munger Professor of Evangelism at [Fuller Theological Seminary](/source/Fuller_Theological_Seminary) in summer 2021.[3]

He serves on the boards of *[Sojourners](/source/Sojourners)*, the Christian Community Development Association, [World Vision](/source/World_Vision), and the Catalyst Leadership Center.[5] His book, *Prophetic Lament: A Call for Justice in Troubled Times*, received affirmation as *The Englewood Review of Books* Best Books of 2015[6] and [*Relevant*](/source/Relevant_(magazine))'s Top 10 Books of 2015.[7]

## Personal life

He is married to Sue, a special educator. They have two children, Annah and Elijah.[8]
