== History ==
Solone is located on both banks of the [Solonenka River](/source/Solonenka_River), a right tributary of the [Mokra Sura River](/source/Mokra_Sura_River), itself a right tributary of the [Dnieper](/source/Dnieper).
In 1803 the Sts. Peter and Paul Church was built in Solonenke as the [village](/source/village) was then called.
In 1889 Tsar [Alexander III](/source/Alexander_III_of_Russia) promulgated the [Land Captain](/source/Land_Captain_(Russian_Empire)) (Zemstvo chief) Statute of 1889, abolishing the old position of [justice of the peace](/source/justice_of_the_peace). As a result, [Yekaterinoslav Governorate](/source/Yekaterinoslav_Governorate) was divided into 7 precincts. The 3rd precinct included the following areas: Surske, Lotsman-Kamyansk, [Voloske](/source/Voloske%2C_Dnipropetrovsk_Oblast), [Solone](/source/Solone_Raion), Mykilske, and Yamburg.
In 1937, the Soviet government had built a grandiose [theater](/source/Theatre) in Solone, which was destroyed during the retreat of the [German army](/source/German_Army_(1935%E2%80%931945)) in 1943.
In August 1941, the [NKVD](/source/NKVD) created a Solone [partisan](/source/Soviet_partisans) detachment (commander Volobuev) which existed until November 1941.
Until 18 July 2020, Solone was the administrative center of [Solone Raion](/source/Solone_Raion). The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast to seven. Until 26 January 2024, Solone was designated [urban-type settlement](/source/urban-type_settlement). Solone has access to the [Highway M04](/source/Highway_M04_(Ukraine)) connecting [Dnipro](/source/Dnipro) with [Kryvyi Rih](/source/Kryvyi_Rih), as well as to the [Highway H08](/source/Highway_H08_(Ukraine)) connecting Dnipro with [Zaporizhzhia](/source/Zaporizhzhia).
The closest railway station is in the village of [Nadiivka](/source/%3Auk%3A%D0%9D%D0%B0%D0%B4%D1%96%D1%97%D0%B2%D0%BA%D0%B0_(%D0%94%D0%BD%D1%96%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B2%D1%81%D1%8C%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%B9_%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%B9%D0%BE%D0%BD)), on the railway connecting Dnipro and [Apostolove](/source/Apostolove).
