The **Smart #5** (stylised as "smart #5") is a [battery electric](/source/Battery_electric_vehicle) and [plug-in hybrid](/source/Plug-in_hybrid) [mid-size crossover SUV](/source/Mid-size_crossover_SUV) developed and produced by [Smart Automobile](/source/Smart_Automobile), a joint venture between [Mercedes-Benz Group](/source/Mercedes-Benz_Group) and [Geely Holding](/source/Geely_Holding_Group). It is the third vehicle produced by the joint venture.

The vehicle is built on two different platforms developed by Geely, the BEV variant is based on the [Sustainable Experience Architecture](/source/Sustainable_Experience_Architecture_platform) (SEA) [electric vehicle platform](/source/Skateboard_(automotive_platform))[3], the EHD (PHEV variant) is built on [Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture](/source/Global_Intelligent_New_Energy_Architecture_platform) (GEA).[4]

In [China](/source/China), the model is marketed as the **Smart Jingling #5** ([Chinese](/source/Simplified_Chinese_characters): 精灵#5; [pinyin](/source/Pinyin): *Jingling Wuhao*; lit. 'Elf #5').

## Overview

The #5 was first previewed by the **Smart Concept #5** [concept car](/source/Concept_car) at [Auto China](/source/Auto_China) in April 2024.[5][6] A [Brabus](/source/Brabus)-branded version with 646 [hp](/source/Horsepower) is available since 2025.[7]

The production version was unveiled on 13 June 2024.[8][9] It is offered with four powertrain options.[2]
