**Smarhon district** or **Smarhoń district**[2] ([Belarusian](/source/Belarusian_language): Смаргонскі раён; [Russian](/source/Russian_language): Сморгонский район) is a [district](/source/Districts_of_Belarus) ([raion](/source/Raion)) of [Grodno region](/source/Grodno_region) in [Belarus](/source/Belarus). The administrative center is [Smarhon](/source/Smarhon).[1] As of 2024, it has a population of 48,464.[1]

Historically the district's center [Smarhon](/source/Smarhon) was part of the [Vilnius Voivodeship](/source/Vilnius_Voivodeship) within the [Grand Duchy of Lithuania](/source/Grand_Duchy_of_Lithuania) until 1795.[3] Forty percent of the names of Smarhon district's settlements have remained of the [Lithuanian](/source/Lithuania) origin, while residents of Smarhon once spoke in the Eastern [Aukštaitian](/source/Auk%C5%A1taitija)-[Vilnian](/source/Vilnius) dialect of [Lithuanian language](/source/Lithuanian_language).[3]
