**Slow Bar** is a bar and restaurant in [Portland, Oregon](/source/Portland%2C_Oregon), United States.[1] It has operated in [southeast Portland](/source/Southeast_Portland%2C_Oregon)'s [Buckman](/source/Buckman%2C_Portland%2C_Oregon) neighborhood since 2004. The bar is known for its [onion ring](/source/Onion_ring) burger.[2] It was slated to close permanently in August 2025, but was re-opened under new ownership.

## Description

The bar and restaurant Slow Bar operates in the [New Logus Block](/source/New_Logus_Block) on Grand Avenue in [southeast Portland](/source/Southeast_Portland%2C_Oregon)'s [Buckman](/source/Buckman%2C_Portland%2C_Oregon) neighborhood.[3]

The menu has included burgers, [ceviche](/source/Ceviche), [fondue](/source/Fondue),[4] pizzas, salads, and [sliders](/source/Slider_(sandwich)). [Seafood](/source/Seafood) options include buttermilk [fried chicken](/source/Fried_chicken) and [hushpuppies](/source/Hushpuppy).[5] The restaurant has also served [French fries](/source/French_fries) and a [vegan](/source/Veganism) burger.[6] [Margaritas](/source/Margarita) are on the drink menu.[5]

## History

Slow Bar opened in July 2004.[7][8]

In July 2025, the business announced plans to close permanently on August 9, operating for approximately 21 years.[9][10][11] The general manager cited multiple reasons for the closure.[12][7] The bar closed temporarily before re-opening under new ownership later in the year.[13]

## Reception

Thrillist included the Slowburger in a 2016 list of the eleven best burgers in Portland.[14] Michael Russell included the bar in *[The Oregonian](/source/The_Oregonian)*'s 2016 list of the city's 27 best eateries after 10pm.[15]
