***Slipstream*** is a video by [Jethro Tull](/source/Jethro_Tull_(band)), recorded during the 1980 *[A](/source/A_(Jethro_Tull_album))* tour, released in 1981. It was originally released on [VHS](/source/VHS), [Capacitance Electronic Disc](/source/Capacitance_Electronic_Disc), and [laserdisc](/source/Laserdisc), and was released as a (bootleg) [DVD](/source/DVD) in [Brazil](/source/Brazil) (as seen in the cover on the right) in 2003.[1] It is also included in the (2004) **bonus DVD** edition of *[A](/source/A_(Jethro_Tull_album))*. This bonus DVD was the only official release on DVD until it was released as part of the 40th anniversary box set of [*A*](/source/A_(Jethro_Tull_album)) in April 2021.[2]

The video shares its title with a song of the same name on the group's landmark 1971 album *[Aqualung](/source/Aqualung_(album))*.

## Music videos

*Slipstream* mixed the concert tour with the videos recorded and directed by [David Mallett](/source/David_Mallet_(director)). London's [Hammersmith Odeon](/source/Hammersmith_Odeon) was used for exterior scenes, but the main concert footage was actually from a performance at the [Los Angeles Sports Arena](/source/Los_Angeles_Memorial_Sports_Arena) (as heard on the Magic Piper ROIO), filmed in November 1980. The music videos are:

- "[Dun Ringill](/source/Dun_Ringill_(song))"

- A video inspired by the *[Stormwatch](/source/Stormwatch_(album))* album cover, filmed at a beach near [Beachy Head](/source/Beachy_Head).

- "Sweet Dream"

- In this a [vampire](/source/Vampire)-themed [homage](/source/Homage_(arts)) to [horror movies](/source/Horror_movies), Aqualung is pursued by a vampire and—like the [Prisoner](/source/The_Prisoner)—giant pink balloons. Meanwhile, a [ballerina](/source/Ballerina) pirouettes (recalling *[A Passion Play](/source/A_Passion_Play)*), a giant [tarantula](/source/Tarantula) emits death rays, and an evil [projectionist](/source/Projectionist) starts his movie. A [nun](/source/Nun) supplies the right equipment to defeat the vampire.

- "[Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll](/source/Too_Old_to_Rock_'n'_Roll%3A_Too_Young_to_Die_(song))"

- The elderly band is in a giant [pinball](/source/Pinball) machine, drinking their tea like the [Alice in Wonderland](/source/Alice_in_Wonderland) tea party. Features [Hot Gossip](/source/Hot_Gossip) dancer [Perri Lister](/source/Perri_Lister).

- "Fylingdale Flyer"

- The band is in an [air traffic control](/source/Air_traffic_control) tower, when they see some impending disaster. The cover of *A* is taken from this video. [RAF Fylingdales](/source/RAF_Fylingdales) (note the 's') is the site of a [Ballistic Missile Early Warning System](/source/Ballistic_Missile_Early_Warning_System) radar situated in the [North York Moors](/source/North_York_Moors) National Park, which explains the lyric to the song.
