'''Skyshow''' was an annual [fireworks](/source/fireworks) event held in [Adelaide](/source/Adelaide), [South Australia](/source/South_Australia), from 1985 to 2006. The half-hour fireworks display was synchronised to rock and pop music and presented by local commercial radio station [SAFM](/source/SAFM). Originating as an [Australia Day](/source/Australia_Day) celebration, the event was subsequently moved to late summer, usually February.

Sister events were also held at [Albert Park Lake](/source/Albert_Park_Lake) in [Melbourne](/source/Melbourne), [Australia](/source/Australia) and sponsored by [Fox FM (Melbourne)](/source/Fox_FM_(Melbourne)) and on [Sydney Harbour](/source/Sydney_Harbour) by [2Day FM](/source/2Day_FM).

Although, faced with serious financial difficulties in the late 1990s until rescued by the [South Australian Government](/source/Government_of_South_Australia), it is estimated some 150,000 people attended the main festivities in [Bonython Park](/source/Bonython_Park%2C_Adelaide), while many more watch from vantage points along the [Adelaide Hills](/source/Adelaide_Hills). The event ceased in 2006 after failing to secure funding for 2007.<ref>Candace Keller, [http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/skyshow-goes-down-in-flames/story-e6freo8c-1111112620732 Skyshow goes down in flames], ''Adelaide Now'', 2 December 2006</ref>

After a large public campaign on social networking site [Facebook](/source/Facebook) for the event to return, the Skyshow returned on 13 March 2010 as part of the annual [Adelaide 500](/source/Adelaide_500) event.<ref>{{cite news | title=Skyshow is back | author= Bryan Littely | newspaper=The Advertiser | location=Adelaide | page=1 | date= 10 November 2009 |url= http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0,22606,26328426-2682,00.html | accessdate=10 November 2009}}</ref>
