{{Short description|Band government of the Stó꞉lō people}}
{{Use Canadian English|date=February 2026}}
'''Skway First Nation''', (officially '''Shxwhá꞉y Village'''), is a [band government](/source/band_government) of the [Stó꞉lō](/source/St%C3%B3%EA%9E%89l%C5%8D) people living in the [Fraser Valley](/source/Fraser_Valley) of [British Columbia](/source/British_Columbia), Canada near the city of [Chilliwack](/source/Chilliwack). The Skway traditionally speak the Upriver dialect of [Halkomelem](/source/Halkomelem), one of the [Salishan](/source/Salishan_languages) family of languages. The band is a member government of the [Sto:lo Nation](/source/Sto%3Alo_Nation) tribal council, and should not be confused with the [Skwah First Nation](/source/Skwah_First_Nation), which is in the same area but is a different band.

==Indian Reserves==
The band administers three [Indian Reserves](/source/Indian_Reserves):<ref>[https://fnp-ppn.aadnc-aandc.gc.ca/fnp/Main/Search/FNReserves.aspx?BAND_NUMBER=570&lang=eng Indian and Northern Affairs Canada Reserves/Settlements/Villages Detail] </ref>
*[Grass Indian Reserve No. 15](/source/Grass_15), 1/2 mile southeast of Chilliwack, 64.8 ha.
*[Skumalasph Indian Reserve No. 16](/source/Skumalasph_16), 6 miles northwest of Chilliwack, 468.4 ha.
*[Skway Indian Reserve No. 5](/source/Skway_5), 2 miles west of Chilliwack, 255 ha. (location of Skway Village)
<!--INAC lists a fourth reserve, but it's also numbered "5" and has zero hectarage and is only for a right-of-way-->
The band also shares with 20 other bands the [Peckquaylis](/source/Peckquaylis) Indian Reserve, formerly [St. Mary's Indian Residential School](/source/St._Mary's_Indian_Residential_School) at [Mission](/source/Mission%2C_British_Columbia), which is now a cultural, government and aboriginal business centre.

==Treaty process==

The Skway are at Stage 4 in [British Columbia Treaty Process](/source/British_Columbia_Treaty_Process) with the rest of the [Sto:lo Nation](/source/Sto%3Alo_Nation) tribal council.<ref>[http://www.gov.bc.ca/arr/firstnation/stolo/default.html BC Govt Aboriginal Reconciliation website]</ref>
