The **Skeena Mountains**, also known as **the Skeenas**, are a subrange of the [Interior Mountains](/source/Interior_Mountains) of northern [British Columbia](/source/British_Columbia), [Canada](/source/Canada), essentially flanking the upper basin of the [Skeena River](/source/Skeena_River). They lie just inland from the southern end of the [Boundary Ranges](/source/Boundary_Ranges) of the [Coast Mountains](/source/Coast_Mountains), and from the northern end of the [Kitimat Ranges](/source/Kitimat_Ranges), another subrange of the Coast Mountains. Their southern limit is described by the [Bulkley River](/source/Bulkley_River) and the upper northwestern reaches of [Babine](/source/Babine_Lake) and [Takla](/source/Takla_Lake) Lakes. To the northeast, their boundary is marked by the upper reaches of the [Omineca River](/source/Omineca_River).[1][2]

To the north, the Skeenas abut the southern [Tahltan Highland](/source/Tahltan_Highland) and [Klastline Plateau](/source/Klastline_Plateau), part of the southern reaches of the [Stikine Plateau](/source/Stikine_Plateau), and the [Spatsizi Plateau](/source/Spatsizi_Plateau), another subplateau of the Stikine. To the northwest, across the narrow confines of the [Spatsizi Plateau](/source/Spatsizi_Plateau), are the [Stikine Ranges](/source/Stikine_Ranges) of the [Cassiar Mountains](/source/Cassiar_Mountains), while to the east of the Skeenas are the [Omineca Mountains](/source/Omineca_Mountains).[3] To the south lie the [Hazelton Mountains](/source/Hazelton_Mountains).
