The lake is located {{convert|45|km|sp=us}} to the southeast of [Berdyuzhye](/source/Berdyuzhye) and {{convert|32|km|sp=us}} to the southwest of [Kazanskoye](/source/Kazanskoye%2C_Kazansky_District%2C_Tyumen_Oblast), the district capitals in Russia, and {{convert|43|km|sp=us}} to the NNW of [Petropavl](/source/Petropavl) city, the regional capital in Kazakhstan. [Polovinnoye](/source/Polovinnoye) village lies {{convert|1.5|km|sp=us}} to the west of the western shore and [Novoalexandrovka](/source/Novoalexandrovka%2C_Tyumen_Oblast) {{convert|1|km|sp=us}} to the southeast of the eastern shore. Siverga is located at the [Kazakhstan–Russia border](/source/Kazakhstan%E2%80%93Russia_border), with most of the lake in Russia and only a small sector of the southern end in Kazakhstan.<ref name="GЕ"/>

==Geography== 
Siverga is an [endorheic lake](/source/endorheic_lake) belonging to the [Ishim River basin](/source/Ishim_(river)). It is located in an area dotted with small lakes at the southern edge of the [Ishim Plain](/source/Ishim_Plain), part of the [West Siberian Plain](/source/West_Siberian_Plain). The lake has an elongated capital letter "E" shape, stretching from north to south for almost {{convert|12|km|sp=us}}. It has two bays opening to the northeastern and southeastern ends respectively. There is also a bay in the center of the eastern shore with an attached small circular lake.<ref name="GЕ"/>

Lake [Akush](/source/Akush) is located {{convert|8|km|sp=us}} to the southeast, also on the border, and [Tavolzhan](/source/Tavolzhan) {{convert|60|km|sp=us}} to the east. ==Fauna==
The lake is a {{convert|7500|ha|sp=us}} [important bird area](/source/important_bird_area), providing a habitat for a number of migratory bird species, including the nesting of the [pallid harrier](/source/pallid_harrier) and the [northern pintail](/source/northern_pintail).
